Our Team:
Michael Markman Mr. Markman is President of Construction Risk Underwriters. Markman served as the Commissioner of Insurance for the State of Minnesota from 1979-1982. After his term as Commissioner, Markman joined the St. Paul Companies where he led its insurance business unit from its inception through its growth to a leading construction insurer. In 1995 he joined Zurich North America where he built Zurich’s industry leading construction insurance division including the introduction of innovative products in subcontractor default and homebuilder liability prior to his retirement from Zurich in 2006.

Tim Anderson Mr. Anderson heads up the Commercial Products Division. Prior to joining Construction Risk Underwriters, he spent the last 11 years serving as insurance broker and risk manger for TIC, a multi state industrial contractor. In this capacity he managed both the surety and insurance programs. From 1988 to 1999, Mr. Anderson was a VP of Construction Underwriting at St Paul Fire & Marine Insurance Company. His unique skill set in both surety and P&C allow him to bring a strong background of experiences to formulate solutions to complex opportunities.

Jake Markman Mr. Markman is the director of underwriting for the Commercial Products Division. Prior to joining Construction Risk Underwriters, he spent four years doing strategy and operations consulting with Booz & Company. He brings an outside perspective to help develop creative solutions for our clients.

Mark Berry Mr. Berry heads up the Homebuilder Products Division. Prior to joining Construction Risk Underwriters, he spent eight years as Vice President of Risk Management for Beazer Homes USA with responsibilities including insurance program design, customer care, claims management, and quality assurance. Prior to Beazer Homes, Mr. Berry spent twelve years with Marsh where he specialized in brokerage and risk management services for construction project owners, commercial contractors, and residential builders. Mr. Berry holds a BBA from the University of Georgia and MBA from Georgia State University and Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation.
Barbara Matthews Ms. Matthews is the director of underwriting for the Homebuilder Products Division. Prior to joining Construction Risk Underwriters, she spent four years as Corporate Regional Risk Manager for Centex Homes with responsibilities including insurance program design, wrap-up implementation, contractual insurance requirements, and subcontractor compliance. Prior to Centex Homes, Ms. Matthews spent twenty years with ACE/Cigna where she specialized in underwriting of large builders, contractors, and wrap-ups. Ms. Matthews holds a BBA from the University of North Texas.
Rob Krostue Mr. Krostue is the director of risk control for the Homebuilder Products Division. Prior to joining Construction Risk Underwriters, he spent eighteen years with Centex Homes in corporate, regional, and divisional leadership roles including construction, warranty, training, and quality assurance. Mr. Krostue holds a BS in Construction Management from Michigan State University.
